Employee Spotlight on the Sturgis Ambulance Service

In addition to caring for the residents of Sturgis, they also serve the people of western Meade County and eastern Lawrence County including lower Boulder Canyon, the I-90 corridor between exits 40 and 28, north to the Belle Fourche River, and along Highway 79 to 194th Street. They also serve the Fort Meade Veterans’ Hospital by transporting patients to other facilities in the Hills.
The Ambulance Service is a self supported enterprise (no tax monies) with 5 full time employees. The staff includes Ambulance Supervisor Shawn Peterson, Paramedics Nicole Skouge and Larry Jones, and EMT-Basics Josh Kusser and Bob Keyte. 17 part time responders (EMT-Basics, EMT-Intermediates, and Paramedics) also provide services.
While you hope to never need them, these dedicated professionals are there when you need quality emergency medical care.
