City Municipal Park


Woodland Park

Neighborhood Playgrounds
- Rose Street Park (corner of Sherman and Rose)

Skatepark
A new facility for beginner and intermediate skateboarders.

Bike Path
3.5 miles of paved pathways winding from Boulder Canyon, through Sturgis, along scenic Bear Butte Creek, ending at Sturgis Brown High School.

Fairgrounds/Rodeo Grounds
Located on Ball Park Road. Rodeos, tractor pulls, demolition derbies, and historic half-mile motorcycle races are among all the activities this facility can be used for.

Tennis Courts
Corner of 6th and Williams. Three court complex. There are restrooms adjacent.

Ballparks
- Two little-league fields, restrooms and concession facilities - Two T-ball fields
- One Pony field
- One Legion field, restrooms and concession facilities
- Adult Softball field, restrooms and concession facilities, Ft. Meade

Barry Stadium-Home of Cavalry Days and Sheep Dog Trials.
142 beautiful Black Hills Acres located south of Ft. Meade. This area is good for hiking and biking.

Soccer Fields
A complex consisting of fields, restroom, and concession facilities.

Historical Monuments

Colonel Sturgis - located on Lazelle and Blanche Streets at Hills & Plains Park. This statue honors Colonel Sturgis, a commander at Ft. Meade, for whom the community was named for.

Nolin Monument - located on the corner of Junction and Harmon. This monument and historical marker recognizes Charles Nolin, a 19th century mail carrier who was killed on a mail run to Deadwood.

PICNIC SHELTER RESERVATIONS
Call 605-347-4422, City Finance Office

Shelters can be reserved in advance for picnics or family reunions. We accept reservations a year in advance. A key/clean-up deposit of $20 is required at time key is picked up and reimbursed when key is returned and facility passes inspection. There is no fee for use of the shelters, but donations are appreciated and used for continued upkeep of our facilities.

Woodland Shelter
An open shelter with kitchenette area (refrigerator, stove, microwave, sink, electricity) and seating area for 150 people. A patio area with permanent charcoal grills is also attached. Restroom facilities are attached. Location: Woodland Park. A small playground is next to this shelter.

Stock Shelter
An open shelter with kitchenette area (sink, counter, electricity) and seating area for 50 people. Restroom facilities are attached. Location: City Municipal Park. Project Playground is within sight of this shelter.

Old Stone Shelter
An open shelter with electricity and seating area for 50 people. Location: City Municipal Park. Project Playground is within sight of this shelter. There is no key for this shelter.

Lions Club Park Shelter
An open shelter with seating for 30. There are no amenities at this shelter. A small playground is adjacent. Location: East Lazelle St. Currently this shelter is not on a reservation basis.
