RESOLUTION
2008 - 02
A RESOLUTION SETTING THE MUNICIPAL
ELECTION DATE
AND COMPENSATION FOR ELECTION BOARD
WHEREAS
it is necessary to set the municipal election date for the City of
WHEREAS
the compensation for the election board must be set,
NOW
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the municipal election shall be held on April 8,
2008;
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the members of the election board will be paid $110.00
per day with the superintendent receiving $125.00.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that those members of the election board that attend the
election school shall be paid $10.00/hr while the school is in session.

for the adoption of the foregoing resolution. All those present voted in favor of and the
resolution was declared passed & adopted.
Motion
by Chaplin, seconded by Usera and carried with all members voting yes to
approve the following trustees to the Alice Wiggins Dunn Trust: Terry Hermann,
Library Board, Sheryl Eisenbraun, Bank Officer and Julie Moore Peterson,
Library Director and to also transfer $100,000 from interest into the corpus of
the trust.

by Scudder, seconded by Hersrud and carried with Anders, Chaplin, Ferguson,
Hersrud, LaRue, McVay, Scudder and Usera voting yes and Call abstained to
approve the special events license for the Sturgis Chamber banquet to be held
on January 26th and The Knuckle Saloon will host the event.

by Chaplin, seconded by Call and carried with all members voting yes to allow
City Officials to attend Municipal Day at the Legislature in Pierre on February
5 and 6 2008.
Discussion
was held on the “Nickel a drink bill” that the S.D. Association of County
Commissioners are proposing. A motion
was made by Hersrud, seconded by McVay and failed with Chaplin, Hersrud, LaRue
and McVay voted yes, Anders, Call, Ferguson, Scudder and Usera voted nay to
have South Dakota Municipal League support this bill if the percentage that
comes back to the Municipalities is 50% instead of 15%.
The
council wanted it noted that if this bill was written to give 50% back to the
Municipalities that they would be in favor of it.
