The Water System and Water Operators Responsibilities
The Water Department carries out the operating function of the water system including wells and pumps, chemical feeds, water storage facilities, and distribution system which includes all pumping stations, reducing stations, mains, hydrants, and valves.

The water operators are responsible for repairs to the existing system and some construction work for system expansion or improvements. They perform repairs on all existing water distribution valves and piping as needed. They are responsible for new taps and the proper recording of the information for future locations.

The water operator provides water testing and maintains records on all wells and the distribution system as required by DENR as mandated by the EPA Drinking Water & Clean Water Act. All water operators must work alternate weekends and holidays and serve on an on-call basis.
