Items for Consideration
The Agenda and Council Packet will be posted on this website and at City Hall the Friday prior to the Council meeting.  The Council Packet contains information related to Agenda items including proposed resolutions, staff reports and proposed amendments to existing ordinances and policies.  If you would like more information about any of the Agenda items,check the Council Packets for supporting documents or call City Hall.

Agenda items may be pulled before the actual meeting. If you have questions about any of this information, contact City Hall at 347-4422. The Public is encouraged to attend City Council meetings and provide input.

The City Council Meeting
The City Council meets the first and third Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Erskine Building at 1300 Sherman Street.  In the event of a holiday or during the Sturgis Motorcycl Rally, meetings may be rescheduled.  City Council meetings are open to the public. 

City Manager's Report - The City Manager will report on the status of the budget, current sales tax data and upcoming projects.  

Reports -  Various Department Heads will provide updates related to their department activities on a rotating schedule.  One or two reports are usually given at each meeting.

Consent Calendar -  The consent calendar includes routine items such as approval of minutes and setting public hearing dates.  

Approval of the Claims - A full list of claims is included in the Council Packet.  

Public Hearings - All public hearings are listed in the Agenda and include items such as changes to liquor licenses and requests for special event licenses. 

Reports - Payroll changes, consideration for first and second reading of ordinance changes or amendments and changes to or enacting new resolutions.  Each item usually has a staff report given at the time of the proposed action.

Other Matters - Any other matter brought forth by the public can be heard at this time. If you would like to be placed on the agenda please call the City Finance Office no later than the Monday of the week prior to the Council meeting.

Ordinance changes require two public readings and Council approval before they are allowed to become effective 20 days after the notice is published in the Meade County Times.  The proposed changes can be modified or stopped during the consideration process.  A public informational meeting may also take place during the consideration process to gain input from the public.
