Sturgis named 2013 Economic Development Community of the Year by Governor Dennis Daugaard

Sturgis has enjoyed an economic development boom which began in 2010.  At that time, Meade County implemented a tax abatement incentive for new development.  Since that time, nearly $50 million has been retained by developers who have made investments within the City limits of Sturgis.

With the recent addition of several new retailers, our city has grown and our quality of life continues to improve with better jobs, more housing options and affordable living conditions.

Our Philosophy:    You can keep more of what you make when you locate your business in Sturgis,

South Dakota has no corporate income tax, personal income tax, personal property tax, business inventory tax, or inheritance tax, and is a “right-to-work” state. Meade County has no property tax.* South Dakota consistently ranks as a top state in which to do business.

Tucked between the Black Hills National Forest and Badlands National Park on I-90, the region is the gateway to great attractions, shopping, and year round outdoor activities. With the Black Hills and the Great Plains as your playground, your vacation can last all year.

You really can have it all – work, profit, play!
*For five years on new commercial construction or renovation over $30,000.
