General Information
This page is your one-stop shop for all media related to the City of Sturgis.  If you are a member of the press (local or visiting) and you will be in Sturgis for the Sturgis® Motorcycle Rally™, please register..  By being a registered Media person, you will be invited to attend the daily press conferences and you can opt in to receive the daily press releases that will keep you informed of what's happening during the Rally.

Media is allowed into most public areas including the Photo Towers on Main Street by showing your City of Sturgis media credentials.  The City of Sturgis Media Pass does not work for events taking place on private property outside City limits such as campgrounds.  The pass may not work for private entertainment venues such as racing events. Entry into private events is at the discretion of the promoter.  The City of Sturgis does not require a film permit.

Media Passes may be picked up at the Media Center between the hours of
10 AM and 2 PM.

The City of Sturgis hosts a Media Center in the Sturgis Community Center located at 1401 Lazelle Street.  The Media Center will be open August 4-11, 2017 from 10 am until 2 pm daily.  The Media Center provides a place to stop in and ask questions, pick up maps and schedules, charge your phone, use the wi-fi or just take a break.  

There will be a press conference held daily at the Media Center at 1:00 pm.  The Police Chief and representatives from several other law enforcement agencies along with special guests will be present at this press conference.  Interviews with these representatives and guests will be available at this time.  All registered media is invited to attend the daily press conferences.

Daily Media Updates: (These will begin on August 3, 2017)

Opening Ceremonies - August 4 at 3:00 pm.  Harley-Davidson Rally Point on Harley-Davidson Way.

Carey Hart's Good Ride - August 6. Ride leaves at 9:00 am from Sturgis Indian, 2130 Main Street. 

Mayor's Ride
- August 7. Ride leaves at 9:00 am from the back side of the Sturgis Community Center at 1401 Lazelle.  Pre-registration required/limited to the first 200 registered riders. 

Military Appreciation Day - August 8.  Recognition Ceremony 2:00 pm at the VIP Hospitality Village located at 1650 Lazelle.  Parking is available across the street, behind the Sturgis Community Center.   B-1 Flyover Main Street will take place at 3:00 weather permitting. 

Tattoo Contest - August 8. Registration begins at 5:00 pm and judging will take place from 5:00 until 6:00 pm.  Harley-Davidson Rally Point on Harley-Davidson Way. 

5K Run/Walk - August 9.  Registration is from 6:00 until 6:45 am at the Sturgis Brown High School located approximately .5 miles east of City Park on Hwy 34.  Run starts at 7:00 am. The course is into Sturgis and down Main Street, ending at the VIP Hospitality Village.

Discovery Ride - August 9.  Register at the Discovery display on the Sturgis Liquor lot (1075 Lazelle).  Registration is 7:30 to 8:45 am.  Three-mile ride leaves at 9:00 am.  

Beard & Mustache Contest - August 9.  Registration takes place at 5:00 at Harley-Davidson Rally Point on Harley-Davidson Way.  Winners will be announced between 6:00 and 6:30 pm. depending on the number of entries. 

Street Food Throw-Down
- August 10.  Open to food vendors only.  Winner to be announced on stage at Harley-Davidson Rally Point at 11:30 am. 

Police Bike Raffle Winner Announcement - August 12 at noon.  Harley-Davidson Rally Point on Harley-Davidson Way.
