2016 General Information & Street Closures
2016 Street Closures and Restrictions
Each year, the City of Sturgis closes several streets to motor vehicular traffic before and during the annual Motorcycle Rally.  City staff, which includes the City Manager, Sturgis Police Chief, Sturgis Fire Chief, Sturgis Ambulance Director, Public Works Director and Rally & Events Director carefully review the traffic plan to address any public safety concern that may have arisen from the past event.

The City of Sturgis has finalized the 2016 traffic management plan that implements previous year’s plans with modifications based on business suggestions and concerns.  Emergency routes and fire lanes are also designated.

Each year the City works with a contractor to furnish and maintain portable restrooms which are placed in the public right of ways throughout the City.  In many cases, these facilities are located in alleyways.  The contractor is responsible for pumping and cleaning the restrooms on a regular basis.  Additional public restrooms are available at City Hall, the Community Center and the Auditorium.  Restrooms are placed in various locations where pedestrian traffic is most concentrated.

The Black Hills Chapter of the American Red Cross will have First Aid and Hydration Stations set up at the Community Center and on Harley-Davidson Way near City Hall.

Bus stops are located on Sherman Street between 3rd and 4th Street; as well as on Middle Street between Sherman and Main Street.
