Vendor Sales Per Traffic Count
in 2015 shows a steep increase from 2012 until 2015. Part of the increase is due to effort by the Sturgis Police Department to step up enforcement of sales tax reporting by temporary vendors. In 2015 The Sturgis City Council enacted an ordinance requiring all vendors to provide point of sale receipts to customers and to also maintain physical receipts for auditing purposes. The increased enforcement combined with ordinance changes has resulted in more taxes being accurately reported during the Rally event.
Sales Tax History
