On July 31, the City Manager presented the proposed 2018 budget
to the City Council and the public.
The proposed budget reflects the following:
- Reduced Property Tax
- Increased Retail Sales Tax (heightened exposure to recessions)
- Increased Rally Revenue
- Increased Development Revenue
- Higher Interest Revenue (especially TIF interest)
- Less use of Savings
- Increased Revenue from Sturgis Liquor
The first reading for approval of the 2018 budget will take place on August 21, 2017. The second reading and final approval will take place September 5, 2017.
