Emergency Management

Emergency Management is the managerial function charged with creating the framework within which communities reduce vulnerability to hazards and cope with disasters.  The Emergency Manager for the City of Sturgis works closely with the Meade County Emergency Manager as well as the State Office of Emergency Management.

Preparedness is key to surviving during an emergency.  There are many resources available to help you be prepared for the unexpected.  Please review the pages associated with this site and discuss with your family your emergency plan.  Once you have a plan in place, practice with your family, what to do in the event of an emergency.  Include a plan to address where to go and what to do if an emergency happens and you are not at home.

If a widespread emergency occurs, dial 211 for official information.  If you need police, fire or ambulance call 911.
