SURRENDER

PET SURRENDER

We understand that circumstances may arise where it is necessary for a pet to be surrendered and rehomed. The pet owner needs to understand that the shelter will now have custody of the pet and place the animal up for adoption.

Not all pets will be accepted for surrender:

  1. Pets that are unhealthy or injured must be taken to a vet for care and be approved by the vet for surrender
  2. Aggressive animals are not surrender candidates as they are highly unadoptable, and may cause harm to staff or other animals.
  3. We do not accept any animals from outside of Meade County.

To surrender a pet you must:

  1. Complete a surrender form
  2. Provide proof of ownership
  3. Provide a vet history including proof of vaccinations
  4. Pay a surrender fee:
    1. $50 fee
    2. Additional $50 if unaltered
    3. Additional $20 if unvaccinated
