This project entailed extending sanitary sewer service east from an area near the City Park to the city limits.  The commercial property housing the Thunderdome and Kickstart Convenience Store were voluntarily annexed into the City in 2016.  Per the Annexation Agreement, the City was required to provide sewer services to those properties by July of 2018.

The project was reviewed by the Infrastructure Advisory Committee and were adopted by the Sturgis Common Council in the City's 5-year Capital Improvement Plan.

In December of 2016, the City requested bids for the project, as a result, 11 bids were filed.  On January 9, the bid was officially awarded to Heavy Constructors in the amount of $1,510,565.00. This was 25% under the budgeted amount.
