A historical tour of former cavalry sites and views of Bear Butte on modern trails surrounding Ft. Meade.

Driving to the start

Walk registration and start point is at the Sturgis Softball Fields east of Ft. Meade Veterans Hospital. From Rapid City and the east on I-90, take exit 32. Turn right onto Junction Ave and continue 1.4 miles to Lazelle Street (Hwy 34). Turn right onto Lazelle for about 2.4 miles to County Road MC-10, which is just past the hospital and the high school. It is on the right side of the hwy. Watch for yellow Volksmarch signs.
