Candidates need to follow Sturgis sign ordinance

STURGIS – It’s election season and that means candidates are likely to place signs throughout the community.

The city of Sturgis has regulations on signage.

Here’s the ordinance:

“Temporary political signs, not exceeding thirty-two (32) square feet (are allowed) provided they are removed within one (1) week after the election or within 90 days of being placed, whichever occurs first, and are not placed within the public right-of-way. Political signs that are in excess of said size are in violation and subject to enforcement. Political signs or that are placed within the public right-of way are in violation of this Title and may be removed by the Code Enforcement Officer or Building Inspector without notice.”
