STURGIS – The Sturgis City Council will meet in regular session Monday, May 5 at which newly elected members will take the oath of office.
The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. in the council chambers at City Hall, 1040 Harley-Davidson Way. Those attending the meeting should use the Sherman Street entrance.

City Finance Officer Ann Bertolotto will provide an update on the quarterly sales tax revenue during the department update portion of the meeting.
Bertolotto said general sales tax for the first quarter of 2025 was $458,558.50 up $35,684.24 over 2024. The total special sales tax is $65,109.97 which is down $2,597.95 over 2024. The total capital improvement sales tax is $458,558.50 also up $35,684.24.
Following Bertolotto’s presentation, the consent agenda, public hearings and approval of the claims, the council will adjourn its 2024 session and call to order its 2025-2026 council session.
The newly elected council members and mayor will then take the oath of office. They include Mayor Kevin Forrester, and council members Alex Usera, Ward 1, Tony Dargatz, Ward 2, Mark Chaplin, Ward 3 and Terry Jensen, Ward 4.
The council will also elect a new president and vice president at the meeting Monday.
On the agenda Monday is the introduction of the new Sturgis Ambulance Director Aden Schilling.
The council will also consider approving Resolution 2025-16 Resolution Establishing a Designated Scatter Garden for the Disposal of Human Cremains at the Bear Butte Cemetery.
And the council will consider approving the 2025 Retail Licensing Agreement for Black Hills Rally & Gold, Inc. and Tom’s T’s, Inc.
