City seeks non-profits to work Rally photo tower

STURGIS - The City of Sturgis has an opportunity this year for local non-profits to earn money while having fun.

The city needs groups to host the photo tower near the intersection of Junction Avenue and Main Street during the week of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.

Groups have the opportunity to host starting on Friday, Aug. 1, through Saturday, Aug. 9. The city will choose one organization for each day.   Each hosting group will need to commit to operating the tower all day in exchange for the fees collected.

To be eligible, recipients must be organizations or present projects whose work constitutes a public purpose with a mission supporting the public and for the good of the residents of Sturgis.

Hosts may display signs and information about the organization while working.  The city provides a ticket booth with electricity and air conditioning.  Open hours at the photo towers are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. The tower requires at least two adults at all times during open hours.

The suggested donation for the customers to use the tower is $5 per person.  The hosting group will keep all suggested donations as well as any additional donations.  Hosts will be required to enforce the time limits on those using the tower and ensure safety guidelines are followed.

If you would like to be a Sturgis Motorcycle Rally Tower Host, please submit the application by May 15. You can either drop it by City Hall or submit it to dholland@sturgisgov.com.
