City encourages residents to re-enroll in CodeRED emergency notification system

STURGIS – The City of Sturgis is encouraging residents and local businesses to re-enroll in the CodeRED emergency notification system following a recent system update.

CodeRED is a free emergency notification service that allows the city to quickly share important, time-sensitive information directly with residents. Notifications may include severe weather alerts, utility service disruptions, unexpected street closures, public safety emergencies, and other neighborhood-specific updates.

Because of the recent update to the CodeRED system, residents are encouraged to take a moment to sign up again or review and update their contact information to ensure they continue receiving alerts. Re-enrolling helps confirm that phone numbers, email addresses, and notification preferences are current and accurate.

The CodeRED system uses a secure Community Notification Enrollment (CNE) page, which allows residents and businesses to customize how they receive alerts. Users may include unlisted numbers, mobile phone numbers, email addresses, and special communication needs such as TDD/TTY requirements.

City officials stress that CodeRED is one of the primary tools used to communicate urgent information quickly and directly to the community.

“Making sure your information is up to date helps us reach you when it matters most,” said Sturgis Public Works Director Rick Bush.  “Whether it’s a water main break or other emergency affecting your neighborhood, CodeRED allows us to share critical information in real time.”

Residents and business owners can enroll or update their information at any time by visiting the City of Sturgis website and following the CodeRED enrollment link https://tinyurl.com/43867m9v The service is free, optional, and designed to enhance public safety and community awareness.

For more information or assistance with enrollment, residents may contact Deb Holland, Director of Communications at 605-347-4422 Ext. 208.
