City of Sturgis online surplus property auction now on Purple Wave

STURGIS – The City of Sturgis online public auction for surplus city property through Purple Wave is live and will continue through 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 17.

From time to time, the City of Sturgis declares property surplus when items are no longer needed for municipal operations. In accordance with state law, surplus property was identified by staff, declared surplus by City Council action, and is being disposed of through a public auction.

On the auction are motorcycles, UTVs, vehicles, bouncy houses and other kids' inflatables previously used at the Sturgis Music on Main event.

All surplus items are sold as is, with no warranties. Items may or may not be functioning at the time they are declared surplus, and condition information may be limited. Vehicles offered for sale have a clear title.

Among surplus items available include:

Fleet Division
 Fleet Division surplus items include a 2017 Textron Stampede Unit 144 four-seat side-by-side with 3,049 miles (VIN: 4UFT40B8J9003588), a 2015 Arctic Cat Wildcat Unit 145 side-by-side with 1,204 miles (VIN: 40F15NPV7FT306563), and a 2012 Chevy Equinox Unit 40 with 75,375 miles (VIN: 2GNFLCEK7C62767790).

Sanitation Division
 Sanitation Division surplus includes a 1972 Caterpillar D8H dozer with 7,408 hours (VIN: 46A28380), a 2003 Dressta TD25LA dozer with 11,260 hours (VIN: 73106), and an Orwak 8020 E.F.G. cardboard baler (VIN: 07-0062C-012).

Rally Department
 Rally Department surplus items include assorted event and operations equipment such as toy wood blocks, a Colonel Sturgis photo prop, 22 metal locking cash boxes, cornhole boards, a hand sanitizer station, jump-house fans, a 10-foot by 10-foot canopy, multiple inflatables including bouncy houses, obstacle course, sumo wrestling arena, bungee run, and sticky wall, as well as a pallet dolly.

Wastewater
 Wastewater surplus includes four Bauer Rainstar irrigation reels, assorted six-inch, ten-inch, and twelve-inch irrigation pipe and fittings, and 88 pieces of yellow mine pipe totaling approximately 1,768 linear feet.

Sturgis Ambulance
 Sturgis Ambulance surplus includes a 2007 Dodge Durango, a 2005 Chevy Tahoe, a 1996 International bus, a Pramac GSW 22 generator, multiple trailers, office equipment including copiers and monitors, medical and emergency response equipment, a 20-foot by 20-foot U.S. Army surplus tent with accessories, and assorted desks.

Library
 Library surplus includes Lenovo ThinkCentre M710e and M71e desktop computers with assorted serial numbers.

Sponsorship
 Sponsorship surplus includes a 2023 Harley-Davidson FLTRX Road Glide with 130 miles and a 2024 Harley-Davidson RH975 Nightster with 492 miles.
