City flags lowered to half-staff in honor of former Mayor Kevin Forrester

STURGIS - The City of Sturgis has ordered all flags on city-owned property to be flown at half-staff in honor of former Mayor Kevin Forrester, who passed away Sunday.

In a formal proclamation issued April 6, Mayor Pro Tempore Tony Dargatz recognized Forrester’s years of dedicated service to the community, noting his leadership, integrity, and lasting impact on the City of Sturgis.

“Forrester faithfully served the City of Sturgis with honor, integrity, and dedication, providing steadfast leadership and a deep commitment to the citizens of this community,” the proclamation states.

The order directs that flags be lowered immediately and remain at half-staff through the day following Forrester’s memorial service, at which time they will be returned to full staff.

City officials also highlighted Forrester’s strong sense of responsibility and vision, as well as the meaningful contributions he made to local government and the betterment of the community.

“It is fitting and proper that the City of Sturgis recognizes his life, legacy, and service with dignity and respect,” the proclamation states.

Details regarding memorial services are expected to be announced in the coming days.
