City of Sturgis announces leadership transitions

STURGIS - The City of Sturgis announces the upcoming resignations of City Administrator Aaron Jordan and City Attorney Eric Davis, marking a planned transition in city leadership.

Mayor Pro Tempore Tony Dargatz acknowledged both individuals for their service and leadership during a period of significant progress for the city.

“Aaron and Eric have played critical roles in strengthening the city’s operations, improving transparency, and helping position Sturgis for continued success,” Dargatz said. “On behalf of the City Council and our community, we thank them for their dedication and commitment to public service.”

Jordan has submitted his resignation effective no later than Aug. 23, 2026. In his letter, he expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve the community and noted his desire to spend more time with family and pursue personal goals.

It was also noted that Jordan had previously discussed his intent to transition from his role with Mayor Kevin Forrester in late 2025, allowing for thoughtful planning and continuity.

Davis has announced his resignation effective May 31, 2026. He indicated his role was always intended to be transitional, providing legal guidance and stability during a key period for the city.

“Eric brought valuable legal expertise and perspective during an important time for the city,” Dargatz said. “His work helped support the mayor, council, and staff in advancing key initiatives and improving overall governance.”

Both Jordan and Davis have committed to assisting with a smooth and orderly transition. Davis has also indicated a willingness to provide interim legal services, if needed, to ensure continuity until a successor is appointed.

The City Council will begin the process of identifying next steps for both positions, with a focus on maintaining stability and continuing the progress made over the past year.

“We are confident in our staff and leadership team and remain committed to serving the residents of Sturgis with professionalism and integrity throughout this transition,” Mayor Pro Tempore Dargatz said.
