STURGIS - As election season approaches, the city of Sturgis is reminding residents and candidates to follow city code regarding the placement of political signs.
Under Sturgis ordinance, temporary political signs may not exceed 32 square feet and must be removed within one week after the election or within 90 days of being placed, whichever comes first.
Political signs are not allowed within the public right-of-way, and any signs placed in these areas are considered in violation of city code.
Signs that exceed the size limit or are placed in the public right-of-way may be removed without notice by the City’s Code Enforcement Officer.
For questions about proper sign placement, contact Code Enforcement Officer Donovan Coonrod at 605-347-1001.
