STURGIS – After 34 years of service to the City of Sturgis, longtime employee and current Finance Officer Ann Bertolotto plans to retire at the end of 2026.
Bertolotto began working for the city in 1992 in the Finance Office and has served in a variety of roles during her more than three decades with the organization.
She previously served as Deputy Finance Officer and stepped into the role of Interim Finance Officer three times, first in 1999 and as well as in 2007 and 2024, helping provide continuity in the department during times of transition.
In 2019, Bertolotto moved to the Public Works Department, where she served as Administrative Assistant until 2024. She then returned to the Finance Office and became Finance Officer, a position she has held for approximately two years.
“Thirty-four years is a long time, and when I look back, what I will remember most are the people I have had the opportunity to work with and serve,” Bertolotto said. “I have seen a lot of changes in Sturgis and in city government over the years, and I am grateful to have been a part of it. I have always tried to do what was best for the city and its residents, and I am proud of the work we have accomplished together.”
Mayor Rod Bradley thanked Bertolotto for her decades of service.
“Ann has given 34 years of her career to the City of Sturgis, and that kind of commitment to public service deserves our sincere appreciation,” Bradley said. “I want to thank Ann for everything she has done for our community and wish her the very best in retirement.”
The city will post the Finance Officer position and begin the process of recruiting Bertolotto's successor. You can find the job description and application here: www.sturgis-sd.gov/jobs
For Bertolotto, retirement will mark the end of a city career that began more than three decades ago.
“My hope has always been to help build a Finance Department that serves Sturgis well,” Bertolotto said. “Sturgis has been a big part of my life, and I will always be grateful for the friendships, experiences and memories I have made during my years with the city.”
