Job Title: City Engineer
Salary range: $85,000 to $95,000 DOQE

Job Description:
Position open until filled.
This position is responsible for the design, review and management of City infrastructure projects, including those handled by outside contractors and/or engineering firms. The City Engineer provides plan and plat reviews as well as assistance with easement and right-of-way management as well as long range planning. This position maintains the City’s Engineering Standards and Specifications. This position oversees the Staff Engineer and all engineering consultants.
Duties include (but aren’t limited to):
- Design, review and manage City infrastructure projects
- Oversee the preparation of design, engineered plans and contract specifications for outsourced City infrastructure projects and handle bidding and bid openings for these projects
- Develop and maintain, revising as necessary, the City’s design standards and specifications to ensure that infrastructure is constructed to appropriate standards
- Review development plans and permits for compliance with City design standards and specifications
- Provide inspection of subdivision and development improvements
- Oversee the preparation of plans and contract specifications for outsourced City infrastructure projects and handle bidding and bid openings for these projects
Qualifications & Experiences
- Must hold a Bachelors’ of Science in Civil Engineering from an accredited university
- 5+ years engineering experience with project management oversight
- Licensed Professional Engineer in good standing with the State of South Dakota (or able to obtain SD licensure within 6 months)
- Significant design experience for municipal public works projects or subdivision and commercial development projects
- Experience presenting design concepts at open houses and public forums
- Engineers who are also certified with the State of South Dakota as a Licensed Surveyor will have preference.
