Volunteering with the City

The City of Sturgis relies on the generous donation of time and talents by many wonderful community volunteers. Without the efforts of our dedicated volunteers, the City would be more limited in its ability to serve the needs of our community.  We encourage our citizens and the general public to volunteer with us.

To Volunteer at the Community Center, Library or Parks Departments:
Please contact the location you wish to volunteer at to see if there is a need you can fill.  They will have a volunteer application to fill out.  Volunteers under the age of 18 will require an authorization from a  parent or guardian.  We do not accept volunteers under the age of 14.

To Volunteer with the Fire or Police Departments:
For those interested in emergency response or emergency management, we have volunteer opportunities through the Sturgis Volunteer Fire Department and the Sturgis Police Reserves.  To make application to one of these organizations, contact the Fire Department or the Police Department directly.

To volunteer for a Board or Commission:
For those interested in applying to sit on a City Board or Commission, please submit a City Council Appointment Application.  These volunteer appointments must be confirmed by the City Manager and/or City Council depending on the Board or Commission.

The City does not guarantee that it will be able to accommodate your request to volunteer.

Volunteers are not employees of the City and do not receive payment or other non-monetary compensation from the City for their volunteer services.

Thank you again for volunteering with the City. We appreciate you and your volunteering efforts!
